The last of the warm weather has departed & it is time to get out my fleece for the months ahead. Not that it will be too cold, after 40 years of Yorkshire weather winter in Auckland is a breeze. Although to look at the way Kiwi's wrap up, you would think we were in the South Pole not the City of Sails.
I have been talking over the past few weeks with a close friend about various obsessions...One of mine that I keep returning to again & again,is looking for patterns & textures in everyday places.
At first it was bricks, yes that's right just simple everyday bricks. The colours ! The textured surfaces, the way they are arranged both in buildings & in stacks.
Then it was paving cracks, random patterns that grabbed my attention & the way they weathered.
This was closely followed by tree bark & the colours of lichen the patterns as they grew on trees, rocks etc.
Currently it is all things circular,
where does this stuff come from ? OCD aside, it does provide some inspiration & on a good walk out can rival most abstract art for it's originality. You just have to look closely.
