Past

Friday nights when I was about 5 or 6, sharing fish & chips with my mother because she knew I would not eat as much as her, but to me it was a delicious treat sat eating them from the paper together watching TV..

Black & white television, Emergency Ward 10, Take your pick, Juke Box Jury, Ready Steady Go !

Having Jaundice when I was 8, confined to bed for 10 weeks & later discovering how ill I really had been. The days confined to bed made so much better because my teacher came to my house with books she thought I might like to read.

Endless summers spent roaming the fields & woods around our house with no fear from strangers...

Family holidays on the Norfolk Broads, fishing & learning to drink for the first time..

A holiday in Filey with my parents where I kissed my first girlfriend...a true holiday romance.

Left alone to look after my brother who was confined to the living room & television so I could turn my music up & practice...

My first guitar,

The feel & smell of those old vinyl records, especially when the turn table became hot...

Walks home from the local town when we planned how we would take over the world...

Evenings spent with numerous friends all who thought they could talk louder than me...

How to us the world was so fresh & ripe for picking....

pubs that had real TAP rooms....

Sneaking beer from my job at the local Supermarket to share with friends for Friday nights...

Travelling to Leeds ( 8 miles by bus ) on a Friday night JUST to wear a shirt that evening...

walking her home..knowing that I would see her tomorrow...

Listening to:

Ultravox
T Rex
David Bowie
Doctors of Madness
Cockney Rebel
Be Bop Deluxe
Vinegar Joe
Robert Palmer
Thin Lizzy

Strange - - you're such a long way from those days, geographically - - and I'm in the very same house where I was when all that was happening to you!
