School

This is my old high school, Morley Grammar School, now Morley High School.
It is located on Fountain Street in Morley, Yorkshire.
When I attended, 20 of the class rooms were housed in a converted woolen mill, of course with typical youthful originality it was known as the " The Mill ".
The old school was falling apart at the seams although we did possess a very modern school hall complete with large stage & pipe organ. This stage was where I performed many times both with bands & in school productions.

Cant say I miss it though, it was a VERY class conscious school, a culture that was encouraged by the staff, who if I am honest, would find themselves in court on charges in today's PC climate.

What charges? You mean some kind of torture - physical or mental? What about the good teachers - the ones who gave so much of themselves and had the children's best interests at heart? Don't you remember them?

I think whoever said that schooldays are "the best days of your life" must have had a really crap life afterwards. I went to a girls' grammar in Leeds - Roundhay Girls - academically excellent but oh boy! the snobbery. And I never fitted in really, though I had some good friends there.
