Man locked in pub calls police
Police were called to an "unusual" incident after a patron woke up to find himself locked inside a Central Otago pub.

The 42-year-old phoned police at 5.30am on Saturday, saying he was locked inside the Coach and Horses Inn, in Lawrence, The Otago Daily Times reported. Police went to the pub at 7am and found him asleep on a sofa, Senior Constable Robert Wallace said.He had a bottle of beer nearby.

The man had apparently fallen asleep and did not attempt to get out of the premises for fear of triggering the alarm.Staff were baffled how they had missed the man when they closed at 3am.

The man offered to pay for the beer and was not charged with any offence.

Mmmmmmm Not sure if I would have been so quick to call Police......

Was the guy's surname Grommit by any chance?
